Starting today, you can reply directly to any message in EXTRA SAFE, which has been one of the most requested features from our community. This October update builds on our big September release, bringing new features and reliability improvements to calls, notifications, and everyday messaging. Here’s what’s new.

Reply to Any Message

Tap any message to reply to it directly, and EXTRA SAFE jumps straight back to the original when you tap reply. Now, replies can include both media and text, so you can send a quick answer and a photo together in the same thread. We’ve also fixed issues with read status and chat history autoscroll, so conversations stay accurate as they load.

Media and Text, Together

You no longer have to choose between sending a photo or a caption. EXTRA SAFE now lets you send media and text together in one message, so your full thought arrives at once.

More Reliable Calls

Previously, calls would end as soon as the network connection dropped. With this update, EXTRA SAFE now handles connection drops better. Calls will reconnect automatically after a network or WebSocket interruption, and you’ll see a clear "Reconnecting" message on the screen instead of a frozen call. When someone leaves the room, EXTRA SAFE now recognizes it and closes the call properly, so you won’t be left with a stuck or unexplained call.

Notifications You Can Count On

Notifications now come through reliably, so you don't miss a message or a call — including on Android when EXTRA SAFE is running in the background.

Smoother Everyday Details

Small annoyances can add up. Now, the camera won’t ask for microphone access before taking a photo. The attachment picker opens where you expect it, and the attachment menu has a new badge to make it easier to spot.

Under-the-Hood Stability

Behind the scenes, EXTRA SAFE keeps getting more stable, so the app runs lighter and holds up better over time.
