How to Gift USD₮ to Someone Who Doesn't Have a Wallet Yet

In 2025, tokenized dollars moved $33 trillion, which is more than Visa and Mastercard combined. The market capitalization reached $312 billion, and analysts expect it to hit $56 trillion by 2030.
Still, stablecoins make up only about 1% of global payment flows. This share has stayed the same for three years, even as the total volume keeps growing. The technology works, but getting started is the real challenge.
To get a first wallet, you have to use an exchange, pick a network, save a recovery phrase, and get a native coin to pay for gas. For someone new, this process often stops them before they even send their first transaction. The tokenized dollars are there, but the recipient cannot access them.
EXTRA SAFE's Crypto Gift solves this problem. You can load a link with USD₮ and send it through WhatsApp, SMS, email, or Telegram. The funds will be ready in a self-custodial account as soon as the recipient opens the app for the first time.
What Is a Crypto Gift Link
A Crypto Gift Link is both an invitation and a wallet setup. You can preload it with any supported asset you have, like USD₮ or native tokens from supported networks such as AVAX or ETH. The recipient does not need an EXTRA SAFE account, a wallet address, or any experience with tokenized dollars to claim it. They just tap the link, set up their account, and see their balance.
Here is what the sender controls:
- •
It's simple to create. Open EXTRA SAFE, go to the Wallet tab, and tap Gift. Choose a network, enter the amount, tap Create Gift, and share the link through any channel.
- •
Extra protection is available. You can add a password if you want. EXTRA SAFE never stores the password, so only the right person can claim the gift.
- •
Reversible until claimed. As long as the gift remains unclaimed, you can withdraw the funds at any time during the month. If anything remains unclaimed at the end of the month, it automatically returns to you.
- •
Delivery is transparent. Once the gift is claimed, a chat between the sender and recipient is created automatically, and a gift notification appears there. The transfer is on-chain, confirmed, and self-custodial from that point forward.

People send money to contacts, not to addresses. The Crypto Gift is built on that premise.
They Tap the Link. Then What?
The process is designed for people who have never used tokenized dollars before. The goal is to get them from tapping a link to having USD₮ in their wallet in as few steps as possible. They install EXTRA SAFE, see your gift waiting, enter the password if needed, and arrive on the Home screen with the full amount in their wallet, ready to use.
The account created through this process is cryptographically the same as any other EXTRA SAFE account. The Crypto Gift simply offers a faster way to get started. From there, the recipient can message, send, and receive tokenized dollars, and will appear in the sender's contact list.

Security and Self-Custody: What It Means for Both Sides
Self-custody means the wallet belongs to whoever holds the keys. For someone receiving a Crypto Gift, this is true from the moment their account is created. Their key pair is generated on their device when they first open the app. The funds belong to them. EXTRA SAFE cannot access the account or see the recovery phrase.
For the sender, the security model is just as clear. Adding a password creates a second layer of protection. The link allows the claim, and the password confirms it. Sharing them through different channels means that neither one is enough on its own.
Once the gift is claimed, the transfer cannot be reversed, just like all on-chain transactions. The sender decides who receives the link and password. That responsibility stays with the sender, not the protocol.
From Gift to Spendable in One Tap
The usual obstacle for someone new is the gas fee. Every network charges a fee in its native coin to send funds. A new wallet starts out empty, and getting a native token just to make the first transfer is an extra step that can ruin the experience before it even starts.
With EXTRA SAFE, that extra step is removed. Every transfer uses UGTP (Universal Gateway Transaction Platform), which lets the network fee be paid from the same tokens you are sending. The recipient can spend their USD₮ as soon as it arrives, without needing a separate coin for gas. The gas fee is handled automatically.

For the person receiving a gift, none of this is visible. They never see the blockchain — they open the app, the money is there, and it works any hour of any day. That is the point: the technology does the work, so the experience stays as natural as sending a message.

The Broader Picture
India receives $135 billion in remittances every year — the largest corridor in the world (The Economic Times, Jun 30, 2025, RBI data). UPI processes 22.64 billion transactions per month within India (NPCI, March 2026). It cannot move a single dollar of that across the border.
This is what the Crypto Gift is made for: helping someone get their first tokenized dollars. It is not just for another crypto user, but for your mom, a friend, or a freelancer you just hired. You can send a link for a birthday, a new job, a wedding, or just to help out, and they will have real money in a wallet that belongs to them.
EXTRA SAFE is the chat layer for the new kind of money. It is a self-custodial messenger, so money moves just like messages do.
The closed beta opened in June, and full production starts in July.
