Sometimes the fastest way to explain a detail is a short voice note, especially for quick clarifications, updates, and extra context. Starting today, EXTRA SAFE brings voice messages into your private chats.

With a single press in the chat, you can record a voice note and send it instantly. Voice messages live inside your conversation and follow the same disappearing timer you already use for messages, files, and images.

You open a chat and choose its lifespan. From there, everything you share in that conversation, including voice messages, follows the timer you set (1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month). When the time is up, everything you sent disappears from both devices.

The new feature stands on the same privacy model that shaped the app from the very beginning and helped us reach more than 400,000 downloads in just 11 weeks after launch:

• Anonymous: Our Ethereum-like account structure generates a unique cryptographic identifier for you, eliminating the need to provide any identity data and ensuring complete anonymity without compromise.

• E2EE - Asymmetric: Chats are end‑to‑end encrypted and secured using a cryptographic key pair: a public key and a private key that remains on the user’s device. This model ensures that only the intended participants can decrypt content.

• Device–To-Device: Video meetings rely on a P2P topology, with data protected by WebRTC security mechanisms. Users can join from any browser without installing the app or creating an account.

• Temporary Chat: All chats are deleted by default according to the user-selected timer.

Today’s comes alongside feedback shared through our public portal where users asked for a simple way to include voice messages in their private conversations. Guided by this feedback, we also introduced encrypted file and image sharing in EXTRA SAFE Chat, along with new ways to add and organize contacts.

With these features, you can send messages, images, and files in the encrypted chat, exchange contacts with a QR code, highlight favorite contacts, and manage new connections from a pending list.
