Your EXTRA SAFE number is your private in‑app identity for calls and chats. On mobile, it works like a familiar phone dialer: you get a random 9‑digit number from us that isn’t linked to your identity, so people can reach you privately inside EXTRA SAFE.
Where it lives: the EXTRA SAFE number is part of the mobile app. In the browser, you connect with meeting links—the number lives in the app.

Start a secure voice call on the mobile app
Step 1 — Find your EXTRA SAFE number (10 seconds)
- Open the app → your 9‑digit number appears at the top of the main screen.
- Or go to More → Account → EXTRA SAFE number.

Step 1 — Find your EXTRA SAFE number
Step 2 — Start a secure voice call on the mobile app
Two quick ways:
A) Share your number to be called
- Copy your EXTRA SAFE number or tap Share (or Invite Friends → Share Link).
- They enter your number in their keypad to call you.
- If they install via your link, you’ll be auto‑added to each other’s contacts (see Step 3 for faster switching).
B) Dial by number
- Tap the keypad button (nine‑dot icon) on the Calls screen.
- Paste or type their 9‑digit EXTRA SAFE number.
- Tap the Call button.
- Calls connect device‑to‑device (P2P); media is encrypted with an Ethereum-like account.

Step 2 — Start a secure voice call on the mobile app
Step 3 — Switch contacts automatically (invite link)
- Tap Invite Friends → Share Link and send it.
- When someone opens your link, you’re both added to each other’s contacts automatically.
- If they don’t have EXTRA SAFE yet, the link guides them to the App Store / Google Play. After install, you’ll auto‑connect.

Step 3 — Switch contacts automatically (invite link)
Step 4 — Use your number on another device (restore)
- On first open, EXTRA SAFE creates an Ethereum‑like account on your device. This gives you a 12‑word Backup Phrase.
- On your current device: go to More → Account → Backup Phrase → Copy and store the words safely.
- On the new device: open EXTRA SAFE → More → Account → Restore account → paste the 12 words.
- Your EXTRA SAFE number is restored on the new device—same number, different devices. Your contacts and chats are restored as well.

Step 4 — Use your number on another device (restore)
How it works (under the hood)
Ethereum encryption: your device generates public/private keys locally for the app, which remain on your device.
P2P: calls connect device‑to‑device; our servers initiate and help keep connections stable when needed.
WebRTC: encrypts real‑time audio/video for calls and meetings.
Browser vs. App: browser sessions use an ephemeral Ethereum‑like account per meeting; the app uses one permanent Ethereum‑like account on your device.
Tips & troubleshooting
A friend installs after clicking your invite link; they’ll be taken to the app store. After the install and first open, you’ll be in each other’s contacts automatically.
Weak connection? Stay closer to Wi‑Fi or switch to mobile data; our servers help stabilize the call when needed.
Keep your recovery phrase safe: it’s how you restore your number on a new device.
