Your messages, files, and photos are protected with end-to-end encryption, so only you and your contact can see them. The cryptographic key pairs are generated locally on your devices: a public key for encrypting data and a private key for decrypting it. When a chat session starts, you exchange public keys. This way, everything you send is encrypted on your device, stays encrypted while in transit, and is decrypted only when it reaches your contact’s device.
Firstly, EXTRA SAFE is fully anonymous. There are no sign-ups or sharing of your personal information. With the browser lite version, you can make P2P (device-to-device) calls, and exchange encrypted messages and files right in your browser. Once the call session ends, the chat history and all information about the call vanishes; nothing is stored.
Secondly, the locally generated cryptographic keys protect your call sessions and messaging. When a browser session starts, the temporary keys are created. With the app version of EXTRA SAFE, the key pair is created locally on your device.
Finally, there's a vanish mode in chats by default. You can set the timer for every chat, and once the contact views your messages, they will disappear in a set time, from one minute to one month. The messaging, as well as file and image transfer, is end-to-end encrypted. All of this means that data storage is limited and encrypted.
