What are ephemeral (disappearing) messages, and how do I set them?
Ephemeral messages clear on their own. Every chat in EXTRA SAFE has a timer: once your contact has seen a message, the countdown starts, and when it ends, the message is cleared from both devices. Texts, photos, files and voice notes all follow the timer.
Set the timer
1.
Open a chat.
2.
Tap the timer settings icon.
3.
Choose how long messages stay: 1 Minute, 1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week or 1 Month.
The timer you choose shows at the top of the chat, for example 1 Day. It applies to everyone in the chat and to new messages from then on; messages already sent keep the timer they had.
When the countdown starts
The countdown starts when your contact sees a message. A message waiting for someone who’s offline stays until they open it.
Transfers in the chat
Stablecoins you send or receive in a chat are recorded on the blockchain, and every transfer stays in Wallet → History, whatever the chat timer.
Good to know
- •
Cleared messages can’t be recovered — by you, your contact or EXTRA SAFE. Save anything you need before the timer runs out.
- •
Your timer works the same on your phone and computer.
