Do I need a phone number or email to sign up?
You don’t need a phone number or email. Your account is created on your device based on an Ethereum wallet.
How sign-up works
EXTRA SAFE uses a wallet-based identity instead of traditional accounts.
When you start the app:

Your account is protected with locally created keys
- •
Your account is tied to your wallet – it’s in the background, you don’t have to share it with anyone to add them to contacts
- •
You receive an EXTRA SAFE number – this is the ID that is visible on the surface: you add someone in EXTRA SAFE by their number, and you’re added to someone’s contacts the same way
Your access is secured by a 12-word recovery phrase, not a password or phone number. There are no servers that "know" who you are – by design, not by policy
