Your account restores via your recovery phrase – but the local message cache does not transfer automatically, and ephemeral messages that have already cleared are permanently gone.

When you restore your account on a new device, your contacts, wallet, and EXTRA SAFE number come back. Local message cache does not migrate automatically.

Messages that have already passed their auto-delete timer are unrecoverable. Messages that haven't yet expired may or may not be retrievable depending on delivery state, but this is not guaranteed.

If you need to preserve specific information from a chat before switching devices, save it externally before the timer runs out.
