The timer is fully configurable – from one minute to one month. You can change it in any chat at any time.
Each chat has its own independent auto-delete timer. Once the recipient views a message, the countdown starts. When it expires, the message is cleared from both devices.
How to adjust
1.
Open the chat.
2.
Tap chat settings.
3.
Change the auto-delete timer.
The new timer applies to messages sent after you change it. Messages already in the chat follow the timer that was active when they were sent.
There is no way to recover a message once it's been deleted. If something needs to be preserved, save it before the timer runs out.
