What is a recovery phrase, and how do I keep it safe?
Your recovery phrase is 12 words that restore your EXTRA SAFE account on any device — your wallet, your EXTRA SAFE number, your contacts and your chats. It's created once, when you activate your wallet.

Because your keys come from this phrase and stay on your devices, EXTRA SAFE is self-custodial: you hold your own keys — nobody can freeze your funds.
Why it matters
New phone, new computer, a factory reset or a reinstall — enter your 12 words, and your account is back. Your phrase can also live in a second place: an encrypted, password-protected backup in your own Google Drive or iCloud.
EXTRA SAFE doesn't keep a copy of your phrase and can't reset it for you.
How to keep it safe

Write it down on paper and keep it offline, somewhere physically secure: a safe, a lockbox, or with someone you trust.

Make two copies and keep them in separate places.

Add an encrypted backup to your own Google Drive or iCloud, right from EXTRA SAFE. It's protected by a password only you know. See [How do I back up my recovery phrase?] [лінк]

Keep it out of screenshots, notes apps, chats and regular cloud documents. Anything stored there unencrypted can be read by whoever gets access.
Anyone who has your recovery phrase has full access to your funds. EXTRA SAFE will never ask you for it — enter it only in the EXTRA SAFE app.
Is a 12-word phrase really secure?
Yes. A 12-word phrase (BIP-39) has 128 bits of entropy, so guessing it is practically infeasible. The real risk is where you store it.
Can I change my recovery phrase?
Your phrase is permanent and tied to your keys. If you think someone has seen it, create a new account and move your funds there, including any private balances.
What if I lose it?
If you saved an encrypted backup, restore from it with your backup password.
