What are public, smart, and private accounts?
Your EXTRA SAFE wallet unifies the features of three types of accounts under one address: public, smart, and private. EXTRA SAFE picks the right one automatically each time you send.
The three accounts
1.
Public: regular on-chain transfers, like any wallet. Used when you send a native coin — ETH, AVAX, BNB, or POL. The network fee is paid in that coin.
2.
Smart: gas is paid with stablecoins. Used when you send a stablecoin, so you don’t need to hold a native coin first
3.
Private: private balances & transfer amounts. Used when you hold or send a private balance on Avalanche.
One address for all three
All three accounts live under one wallet address. Your EXTRA SAFE number, QR code, and address work the same way whichever account is used, and one recovery phrase covers them all.
Smart account
When you send a stablecoin, your smart account lets the network fee be paid from the stablecoin you’re sending. It runs on open standards: EIP-7702 on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Base and Polygon, and EIP-2771 on Avalanche.
The first time you send a stablecoin on a network, EXTRA SAFE asks you to sign once to activate your smart account there. It’s a one-time step per network; after that, transfers on that network go through without it. Why this signature is needed →
Using the smart account adds a service fee of $0.05 + 0.1% of the amount, shown before you confirm. What does EXTRA SAFE cost? →
Private account
Convert a stablecoin to its private version on Avalanche, and your balance and transfer amounts stay private. Who you pay still shows on-chain; how much doesn’t.
What are Private Balances? →
Do I need to switch between them?
No. EXTRA SAFE uses the right account automatically: the public account for native coins, the smart account for stablecoins, and the private account for private balances.
