How do I send a crypto Gift invite?
Generate a link pre-loaded with USDT – share it anywhere. Your contact downloads EXTRA SAFE, and the funds are waiting in their new account instantly. No wallet address needed, no crypto experience required.
A Crypto Gift Link is an invite and a wallet transfer in one. You load it with USDT before sending. The recipient doesn't need an existing EXTRA SAFE account, a wallet address, or any knowledge of crypto to claim it. They tap the link, set up their account, and see their balance.
How to create a сrypto Gift
1.
Open EXTRA SAFE and go to the Wallet tab → click on the Gift button.
2.
Enter a name – this is what the recipient's account will be created under.
3.
Choose the network and the amount of crypto you want to send. Avalanche C-Chain is the default network – a gasless experience via UGTP, so you pay in USDT, no need to hold AVAX.
4.
Optionally set a password and write a message.
5.
Tap Create Gift to generate a shareable link.
6.
Send the link via any channel: WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email, or another messenger.
What happens on the recipient's side
The experience is designed to be as simple as possible for someone who has never used crypto:
1.
Recipient taps the link → App Store or Google Play opens.
2.
They download and install EXTRA SAFE.
3.
On first launch, they see a setup screen with the gift waiting – showing the name you set and the USDT amount.
4.
They enter the password (if one was set).
5.
The USDT transfers to their new wallet instantly.
6.
Their EXTRA SAFE account is created under the name you specified. They can update it later.
From this point, they have a fully functional EXTRA SAFE account and wallet. They can start messaging, receive or send crypto, and appear in your contact list.
Why Avalanche for Crypto Gifts?
Avalanche C-Chain is the default network for Crypto Gift Links because it offers near-instant finality and near-zero fees via UGTP. The recipient never sees the blockchain at all – they just see digital dollars. Sending a gift from Paris to São Paulo costs the same as one across the street, and settles in seconds.
Security considerations
The crypto Gift system is built around the password you set:
- •
The link alone is not enough to claim the gift, if the sender have set the password – however, it’s optional
- •
Share the link and password through separate channels when possible (e.g., link via WhatsApp, password via SMS)
Use cases
Crypto Gifts work well for:
1.
Onboarding family or friends to crypto for the first time – no technical knowledge required on their end.
2.
Sending money abroad to someone without a bank account – they receive digital dollars and can spend them once the card feature launches.
3.
Birthday or holiday gifts in stablecoins – concrete value, instant delivery.
4.
Paying a freelancer or contractor who isn't yet on EXTRA SAFE.
5.
Introducing colleagues to the app with something tangible, waiting for them.
Q: Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can put in a Crypto Gift?
There's no fixed minimum or maximum set by EXTRA SAFE. Practical lower bounds come from network gas fees – very small amounts may be consumed entirely by fees on Ethereum. On Arbitrum, fees are negligible even for small gifts. Send what makes sense for the context.
Q: Can I send a Crypto Gift to multiple people at once?
Each Crypto Gift is a single link for one recipient. To send gifts to multiple people, create a separate gift for each contact. This also means each recipient gets their own account under their own name.
Q: Can the recipient change the account name that was set for them?
Yes. The name you enter is used to create their initial display profile, but they can update their display name anytime from Settings after they've set up their account.
Q: Does the recipient need to know anything about crypto to claim a Crypto Gift?
No. The setup flow is designed for someone with zero crypto experience. They download the app, enter the password, if there's any, and see their balance. The blockchain runs in the background – they just see a number in their wallet.
